MusicBASE Version 1.0 Documentation
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Introduction
~~~~~~~~~~~~
MusicBASE is a versatile and easy to use musical database with a good array
of features including two different sorts and user-definable searches. Up to
150 records can be catalogued using this version and each can have up to 13
tracks on each side, making for a total of 26 tracks per record. Names too
long to fit on the screen can be entered in full and scrolled in order to read
them. In addition, each record has two comment fields and each side can be
given a subtitle.
This is the demo version of MusicBASE. The registered version also features
a versatile print facility, comments for each and every track, and a version
field for those groups that release several versions of the same song.
Loading MusicBASE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
To load MusicBASE from disk simply insert the disk into the internal drive
and switch the computer on or reset. Double click on the MusicBASE icon when
it appears and then on MusicBASE_V1.0 in the window. After the credits screen,
you will be presented with the main screen of MusicBASE from where you can
start entering data or load a file from the disk (one disk should hold a few
full size files).
MusicBASE should also work fine from a hard disk as long as the drawer that
contains the MusicBASE program also has the three subdirectories - "Setup",
"Help" and "Files" (complete with their contents) in it.
Using The Program
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Full information about using each part of the program can be obtained by
clicking on the help buttons that are to be found on each screen of MusicBASE.
These help files are also present in the "Help" directory of the MusicBASE
disk.
Registering
~~~~~~~~~~~
If you find this program useful, you are strongly encouraged to register it
by sending at least five pounds to me, Edward Beale at the address below.
(This can be cash or cheques, but Pounds Sterling only please.) Please state
that it is MusicBASE that you are registering for. In return for registering
you will receive version 2.0 of the program, which has a fully featured print
screen and the ability to enter version details and a comment for each and
every track.
If you send me £10 I will also send you the full source code of the program
along with the very latest version. Of course, if you send me more than £10,
you will get other advantages.
Send your registration fee (Cheques payable to Edward Beale) to the
following address :
Future Versions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have many ideas for improvements and enhancements for MusicBASE. These
include :
- Full support for any extra memory you have fitted.
- Improved user-interface.
- An overview screen to allow you to see all your records at a glance
and click on the one you want to view in more detail.
Bugs
~~~~
I have tested MusicBASE quite extensively and have not as yet found any
bugs but if you do find any or if you have any suggestions for improvements,
please send these in with your fee when you register and I will see what I can
do!
